For six years Earth Garden has been watching the strawbale building phenomenon grow in Australia and New Zealand, as people embrace this innovative and sensible building method, whether for its environmental, aesthetic or economic advantages over traditional building methods.

In October 2000 Earth Garden published the first Australian book about strawbale building, and ‘Strawbale Homebuilding’ is now on sale in bookshops throughout Australia, in the USA, the UK and New Zealand.

We have also established Australia's first publicly available Strawbale Discussion Board, to assist the free and frank exchange of opinions and information about all things strawbale.

Australians seem to have taken to strawbale building because it makes sense for many of our climates - cold winters and hot summers are a way of life for most Australians.

We hope that this new strawbale web page and discussion list will generate lots of new information sharing. Swapping tips, ideas, advice, pitfalls, and lending a hand to others who are about to venture along the strawbale path — these are the hallmarks of Earth Garden’s approach to publishing over the past 35 years.
