WHAT DOES EARTH GARDEN PUBLISH NOW?

Earth Garden began as Australia’s quarterly magazine for alternative lifestyles and eco-living in 1972.  Its readership grew rapidly throughout the 1970s, and has stayed high ever since.  Forty-six years later the magazine is still published on the first day of each new season, and EG 183, our Autumn issue, was published on 1 March.

Over the years EG has published numerous other titles in magazine format: 12 volumes of ‘Back Yard Farmer’, three volumes of ‘City Permaculture’, three chook volumes, and many, many others.

EG also ran ‘The Good Life Book Club’ for more than 15 years, twice-annually producing a catalogue of many titles related to the topics EG covers in the magazine.  However, in the past three years sales of these other titles have dropped dramatically as people switch to iPads, kindles, ebooks, videos on Youtube, and other digital information sources.

The publishers, Alan and Judith Gray, decided to redesign the magazine and concentrate on creating the most beautiful magazine possible, rather than ‘spreading themselves thinly’ trying to publish or sell too many titles.

So today, Earth Garden focusses solely on the magazine, and its friends at dromanabooks.com.au now sell many of the recent back copies plus most of the EG books, such as ‘Chook Wisdom’ ‘Back Yard Ovens' and many more.

Buying a subscription to Earth Garden is one of the best ways to support the nationwide movement towards respecting the earth, respecting people and other species, media diversity, and putting communities before profits or the economy.
